You never noticed any staff around the property and no one ever checked in with us to see how are stay was going. I really felt like I had been financially rental rate robbed after my stay, as did my friends. And they get away with it because there are not that many places to stay on Sanibel since itвЂ™s a small island. The rental rates are sky high to basically stay in a bug friendly shack. If these cottages were higher quality and cleaner, it would be amazing, but they are not. Sanibel has a lot of old Florida charm and this concept of cottages is a fabulous idea. The bed felt grimy! I think these cottages along with the other cottages I have stayed in on Sanibel really donвЂ™t take much pride in their cottages and they know they can get away with it.

Yes, itвЂ™s right at Blind Pass beach and yes, it had a full size kitchen, but it just was not good quality. I think the best way to describe it was run down and cheap feeling. The toilet full on rocked back and forth and in general the craftsmanship was very poorly done throughout.

I wonder how old that update is exactly? The shower in my unit was fairly dirty including mold in the little window area and some rust. However, I think if they have been updated, they shouldnвЂ™t advertise that because it honestly did not feel like it. On their website they mentioned a lot of these cottages have been updated. I stayed at Castaways for my very first stay on Sanibel. I suppose even though itвЂ™s only a few miles, the speed limit is so slow and not much to see but the wild life refuge it gets old quick if you drive it a few times a day. But the drive to these cottages for some reason seems to really drag. If you donвЂ™t mind being further removed from the restaurants in the main area of Sanibel, then you shouldnвЂ™t mind. That being said, the location of Castaways is all the way at the end of the island right before crossing the small bridge onto Captiva. Someone cast away these cottages and forgot about Castaways! This review for Castaways I am basically using for another cottage on Sanibel as well, as they are practically the same and I have stayed in both, but have adjusted it for each location. Plus the food quality is high.ДЇred has gotten a hamburger the last two times we ate there and he really enjoyed his meal. The menu is limited but for good reason: faster, quicker service. The fried shrimp basket is also very good.

The bread makes you feel like this is a completely satisfying meal. It comes with garlic bread which is very good. They are known for their awesome Caesar salad which you can get full size or as a half portion. I recommend the Caesar salad which was huge and quite delicious. This eatery is smaller than most but boasts large portions.
